Midtown subway attack: 1 slashed, 1 shoved onto tracks

In a Midtown clash, one subway rider was slashed while another was pushed onto the tracks during an encounter with two men at the 57th St. station on the F line, according to police reports.

The individual who was slashed, aged 39, suffered a cut to his hand, and the 37-year-old victim sustained bumps and bruises, notably on his left elbow. Both received medical attention at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center.

The assailants, described as wearing a ski mask and purple jacket, and an orange jacket, escaped from the area. Surveillance photos of the individuals have been distributed to the media by the police.

The assault happened just past 11 p.m. Saturday when the victims, waiting for an F train on the downtown platform, were confronted by the men.

The four got into an argument that quickly turned physical, police said, though it wasn’t clear if the victims knew their attackers.

As the suspects took off, the victim shoved to the tracks was able to climb back onto the platform on his own, police said.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
