Superstore actor Jon Miyahara has passed away at age 83.
Jon, who played Brett on the comedy show from 2015 to 2021, died on Wednesday, his daughter Pennie Cappasola told People.
His wife, Chiyo, was at his side at the time of his death, Pennie told the outlet.
‘He loved working on Superstore,’ Pennie told the outlet.
A cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Superstore star Colton Dunn seems to have been the first to share the news, expressing a heartfelt tribute to his co-star on the day of his passing.

Colton praised Jon’s ability to ‘speak volumes with just a look’ as he shared photos of his late co-star.
‘John Miyahara, known as Brett from Superstore, has sadly left us. John was an amazing person and, as a performer, could convey so much with just a glance,’ Colton, who portrayed Garrett, shared in a message posted on Wednesday.
‘He was such a memorable figure within the Cloud 9 team. It was an honor to know him and work alongside him. I was fortunate enough to meet some of his family, and my thoughts are with them. Rest in Peace, John.’
In the comments, various members of the Superstore family sent their condolences.
‘Oh man! He was always so sweet! Rest in peace,’ Castmember Kelly Stables, who played Kelly, posted.
‘Oh no, he was literally the sweetest man. Prayers up to his family and loved ones,’ Superstore writer and producer Sierra Teller Ornelas wrote.
‘What an incredible man,’ co-star Irene White wrote.
Irene, who portrayed Carol in the show, also posted to her Instagram Stories, ‘What a wonderful man. (heartbroken emoji)’ along with a photo of Jon.

One Walmart manager described how the show, which followed the adventures of employees working at the big box store Cloud 9, touched his life.

Jon appeared in a majority of the series’ 113 episodes – he appeared as Brett for 105 episodes.
Aside from Superstore, his IMDb page has one other acting credit – a part playing ‘Bob’ on a 2022 episode of Holding Tight.
Jon was already retired by the time he joined the show in 2015, Colton told TMZ of his ‘amazing’ co-star.
And Colton says his co-star worked on the show for the sheer enjoyment of it.

A Walmart manager described just how much the show meant to him as he paid tribute to Jon

One fan described how much the show touched their lives as they sent their condolences
‘Background actors endure very long hours with minimal recognition or pay. However, as evidenced by the response, he left a significant impression in his portrayal of Brett,’ he conveyed to the outlet.
The outlet reports that paramedics were at Jon’s home in Los Angeles just over a week ago.
An EMS call was placed for an elderly man who had fallen and was in pain, law enforcement sources told the site. The call was reportedly made at 7:15 on July 28.
He was taken to a local hospital ‘awake and breathing’, police said. The website adds it is not known if he passed at the hospital or at his home.
