While walking the red carpet at the 2022 Met Gala on Monday, “Euphoria” star Sydney Sweeney was asked to “show us those boobs.”
The inappropriate request – which has gone viral thanks to TikTok user @saboomafu – was seemingly made by a male photographer or reporter at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
“Does anyone have boobs like you down there?” the person shouted at Sweeney in the video, which was originally shared via an Instagram Story by the @nytfashion account. “Come on, show us those boobs!”
It appears Sweeney heard the demands, but chose not to interact and just laugh them off.
“He should’ve been immediately asked to leave,” one fan wrote in the comments section, with another adding, “literal icon Sydney Sweeney deserves better and we all deserve better.”
A third person argued, “This is supposed to be a classy event. So unprofessional for someone to say that.”
Amid the backlash, a spokesperson for the Met released the following statement to BuzzFeed News:
“This was just brought to our attention — and we are neither clear if the allegation is accurate nor who the reporter may have been — yet surely we would not condone any of our guests being treated in this unprofessional manner.”
Page Six has reached out to Sweeney’s rep for comment.
Regardless, the moment didn’t seem to take away from Sweeney’s “dream” night.
“Honestly the most fun on a carpet I’ve ever had,” the actress wrote on Instagram following the fête. “Thank you @toryburch for my first met and this incredible dress! still can’t believe this entire night was real :).”
Sweeney – who stars as Cassie Howard in “Euphoria” – previously admitted that she felt like her nude scenes in the HBO series have distracted the public from taking her seriously as an actress.
“I’m very proud of my work in ‘Euphoria.’ I thought it was a great performance. But no one talks about it because I got naked,” she said in an interview with the Independent in January.
“I do ‘The White Lotus’ and all of a sudden critics are paying attention. People are loving me. They’re going, ‘Oh my God, what’s she doing next?’ I was like, ‘Did you not see that in ‘Euphoria’? Did you not see that in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale?’”
Sweeney continued on, telling the outlet, “This is something that has bothered me for a while.”
