Tedy Bruschi shared an awesome story about his former Patriots teammate Tom Brady during “NFL Countdown” on Friday amid rumors that the 44-year-old Buccaneers quarterback plans to retire.

Bruschi, a former linebacker who spent his entire 13-season career with the Patriots, recalled a time two years ago when Brady FaceTimed his son Dante while in his pajamas to chat about playing quarterback with the then high school freshman.

“I said, “Hey man, my son’s playing quarterback,” Bruschi remembered telling Brady, who was excited. The seven-time Super Bowl winner then told Bruschi he would FaceTime him and asked to give the phone to Dante.

“Tom proceeds to put the phone on his fire place mantel … and Tom starts talking to Dante about how to be a quarterback. And there is Tom in his living room in his pajamas, holding a football. He’s got a little knee brace on or something, knee sleeve or something. He’s like, ‘Dante, show me how you hold the football,’” Bruschi said.

“And I’m a father, and I’m just holding the phone and I’m like, ‘My son is in his underwear, getting down in his quarterback stance and I was like, ‘I don’t know what he’s doing here, but here you go Tom,’ and they’re talking.

“But that’s Brady and that’s the relationship, that’s his teammates, and how much he cared about everything that was was going on in their lives too. … He wanted to help them out the best he could.”

It was a conversation Dante, who should now be in his junior year of high school, will likely never forget.

Bruschi, who won three Super Bowls with Brady in New England, said it was one of his favorite conversations.

On Saturday, ESPN reported that Brady plans to hang up his jersey for good after 22 seasons, and last weekend’s divisional round loss to the Rams.

Brady, who turns 45 in August, has said in recent weeks that he never wanted a “farewell season.”

After the retirement report, Brady’s longtime agent, Don Yee, released a statement implying that an official announcement about the QB’s future plans should be arriving soon.

“I understand the advance speculation about Tom’s future,” Yee said in a statement, per Ian Rapoport. “Without getting into the accuracy or inaccuracy of what’s being reported, Tom will be the only person to express his plans with complete accuracy. He knows the realities of the football business and planning calendar as well as anybody, so that should be soon.”
