Nudists arrested after stripping on wrong beach

A group of nudists in Florida found themselves in trouble with the law after choosing the wrong beach for their activities.

On October 25, six individuals were apprehended by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office following multiple complaints about unauthorized nudity.

The nudists were discovered near the Little Mud Boat Ramp, a location approximately a mile away from Blind Creek Beach, which is officially designated as nude-optional.

Those arrested include Daniel Harrisson, Donald Knapp, Gaetane Lambert, Steven Marhenke, Elmer Quandt, and Nicolas Ramos. They now face charges of indecent exposure and exposure of sexual organs, according to the sheriff’s office.

The designated nude beach is currently undergoing a temporary renovation, and authorities have emphasized that while this might inconvenience some, it does not justify using public areas that have not been designated for such activities.

Since the renovations began, some nudists have repeatedly attempted to move to areas north of the designated nude beach, specifically near the boat ramp, raising concerns among local residents.

Officials have been policing the area more heavily since early September by conducting foot and ATV patrols and reminding visitors of the posted signage marking the designated nude-optional zones.

Officers have vowed to continue operating in the area in order to educate beachgoers and enforce the policy.

Deputies will continue to enforce all state laws and county ordinances related to Blind Creek Beach, including violations involving unauthorized nudity,’ officials said.

‘Visitors are reminded to stay within the clearly posted nude-optional boundaries and to cover up before leaving those areas or entering parking lots and public spaces.’

Despite the numerous complaints, some locals say they don’t understand the extreme measures taken against the nudists.

‘I feel bad for them. I wish it didn’t happen. What’s the problem? Why would you find it offensive if someone is naked? Who’s out there to make the complaint is the question,’ one beachgoer, Andy, told CBS 12.

Elsie Frederick, a beachgoer from Orlando, said: ‘I don’t feel I’m harming anyone. I’m my own person, and I have the right to the same as they do.’

But beachgoers at the non-nudist Little Mud Creek beach said they expected others to cover up in the area.

‘Young families could be here and the reality, the sign does say you have to be clothed or in a bathing suit,’ one beachgoer said.

‘I think they need to stay within the boundaries of where the nudity part is allowed,’ another added.

Online critics made a mockery of the situation, but seemed to be in agreement that being naked on a clothing-mandatory beach warrants punishment.

One user wrote: ‘I’m 73 and I can attest to the statement ‘ain’t nobody wanna see that.”

Another added: ‘Did the deputy pat them down for weapons?’

A third said: ‘Nothing To See Here Folks!! I mean NOTHING.’
