At around 8:37 a.m., New Castle County Paramedics, along with fire department and EMS personnel, were sent to the intersection of Capitol Trail and Harmony Road in Newark due to reports of a vehicle collision with injuries.
Upon their arrival, first responders discovered a collision between a box truck and an SUV. New Castle County EMS, Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company of Newark, and Mill Creek Fire Company emergency personnel attended to three individuals who were injured in the crash.
A male child, approximately 10 years old, who was a passenger in the SUV, suffered extremity injuries and a possible head injury. Paramedics provided on-site treatment and then transported him to Nemours Children’s Hospital in serious condition.
The adult female operator of the SUV and the driver of the box truck both sustained minor injuries. They were transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton by basic life support ambulance units for further evaluation.
The Delaware State Police is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
