He was reportedly thrown off the bull and then trampled by the beast as he was on the ground, according to PRCA.

Dylan was then airlifted to a medical center in Houston where he was later pronounced dead, local officials said.

In a social media post shared by the Wharton Country Youth Fair, Kendra Santos wrote: “Our rodeo family lost a talented young cowboy last night.

“There are no worthy words of sympathy at a time of such profound shock and sadness.”

Wharton County Sheriff Shannon Srubar told ABC: “Prayers are with Dylan Grant, his family and the rodeo community.”

Dylan had taken part in numerous rodeo events throughout his accomplished career, accumulating an impressive $15,000 in career earnings since he began in the sport.

He obtained his PRCA permit in 2018 before buying his PRCA card on February 14, 2024.

Dylan competed on the University of Wyoming Rodeo Team where he won the Mountain States Circuit Finals Rodeo.

The University of Wyoming expressed in a statement to ABC News: “We are deeply saddened by the news of his passing, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

“He was a true Wyoming Cowboy.”

HORN HORROR Rodeo rider, 24, is IMPALED in neck by bull’s horn & left covered in blood in front of terrified fans

And the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association also shared a heartbreaking tribute to the 24-year-old.

The announcement continued: “The PRCA wants to extend its thoughts and prayers to bull rider Dylan Grant’s family, friends, and the entire rodeo and bull riding community after Grant tragically passed away following injuries sustained Thursday night during the Wharton County Youth Fair Xtreme Bulls event in Wharton, Texas.”

It comes after a rodeo rider was brutally impaled in the neck by a bull leaving him covered in blood in front of horrified fans.

Zachary Naegele, 24, survived the gruesome ordeal at the Conley Invitation Bull Riding Competition in Palmetto, Florida on 7 February.

The rider drove 11 hours from his home in Amity, Louisiana to get to the event, but when he entered the arena on his chosen bull Zachary said he was “busted off” the animal.

Initially he believed he had been hit in the face – moments before blood started quickly gushing out of his neck in front of terrified spectators.

Horrific images show the bull’s left horn puncturing a three-inch hole through the unfortunate rider’s neck and carotid artery.

Zachary, who has been riding for the better part of a decade, said: “At first I didn’t know it impaled me in the neck.

“I saw the blood when I ran away and as soon as I got behind the chute I grabbed my chin because I thought the bull had busted my chin or jaw.

“But when I grabbed my jaw, the blood was still pouring out. If you’ve ever taken a syringe full of water and squirted it, that’s how it looked coming out of my neck.”
