Travis Kelce’s father, Ed, has shared specific details about his son’s elaborate proposal to Taylor Swift, mentioning that she was starting to feel ‘a little antsy’ about the NFL player delaying the big question.
The singer and the athlete, both 35 years old, who have been together for two years, announced their engagement on Tuesday with a romantic photoshoot featuring Travis down on one knee in a rose garden.
Ed disclosed that the unexpected proposal occurred near Travis’s home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, following some motivational words from him.
Lee’s Summit, with a population of approximately 106,000, is situated less than 20 miles from Travis’s $6M mansion in Leawood, Kansas, where fans had previously thought the proposal might have happened.
In an interview with News5Cleveland, Ed said, ‘[Travis] was planning to delay it until this week. I think [Taylor] was becoming a bit anxious, but he intended to postpone it to make it a grand affair, a big special moment.’
‘I kept telling him, you can do it anywhere, even on the side of the road, and it will be special when you kneel and ask her to marry you.’

Ed has now revealed that the surprise proposal took place near the sportsman’s home in Lee’s Summit Mossouri, following his own words of encouragement
Ed went on to reveal that Travis had taken Taylor by complete surprise and after popping the question the couple quickly FaceTimed family and friends with the wonderful news.
‘He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, “let’s go out and have a glass of wine” … they got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,’.
He went on: ‘They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great’.
Ed has since spent time with the newly-engaged couple who he described as ‘crazy about each other’.
He said: ‘Taylor made dinner, and we had a wonderful dinner with them outside on the patio and to just watch the two of them, just crazy about each other. It’s truly kinda neat’.
It comes after Ed made an appearance on Channel Nine’s breakfast program, The Today Show, on Wednesday morning to share new details about the engagement.
He said the proposal happened a few weeks ago after ‘several weeks of prodding from myself and Scott Swift.’
‘He wanted to make it special… Travis’ mother and Taylor’s parents have all expected this for a little while,’ he said.

Ed also confirmed Travis and Taylor haven’t decided when they will be tying the knot yet.
The couple sent fans into a frenzy when they announced their engagement on Tuesday after a secret proposal two weeks ago.
Taylor captioned the post: ‘Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.’
The Grammy winner also revealed her jaw-dropping diamond engagement ring in the post – the stunning band is an Old Mine Brilliant Cut and appears to be from Kindred Lubeck at Artifex Fine Jewelry. It is worth an estimated $675,000 to $1 million.
The star shared the post on her Instagram, set to the ballad So High School, which is about her enduring love for Travis.
The couple went public with their relationship in September 2023 when the singer appeared alongside Travis’ mother, Donna, at a Kansas City Chiefs game.
Since that day, their romance has captivated the world, with Taylor supporting Travis’ run to two Super Bowls while the NFL star has travelled alongside her around the globe on her wildly successful Eras tour.

The sports star’s close friend Patrick Mahomes was quick to congratulate the couple, sharing Taylor’s post on Instagram with three heart emojis.

Taylor’s longtime pals, supermodel Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, and Cara Delevingne were quick to like the post, showing support from her girl squad.
Taylor wore a $400 striped silk-blend dress by Ralph Lauren for her proposal, which featured a ruched top and halter neckline.
She completed the understated look with one of her go-to accessories: a gold Santos Demoiselle Watch by Cartier.
Before Kelce, Taylor was in a six-year romance with actor Joe Alwyn, 34, which ended in April 2023. She then briefly dated The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, 36.
She has also dated Harry Styles, Tom Hiddleston, Calvin Harris, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer and Conor Kennedy.
Before Taylor, Kelce dated sports broadcaster and model Kayla Nicole from 2017 to May 2022.
