President Donald Trump said he will look into the ‘horrible’ killing of a Ukrainian woman by a career criminal on a North Carolina train.
Trump was asked about the filmed deadly stabbing in Charlotte as he spoke to the press Sunday at Joint Base Andrews.
He said he had not heard about the killing but that it was ‘horrible’ and he would ‘know all about it my tomorrow morning.’
Following his deployment of the National Guard to Washington, DC, Trump has announced his readiness to dispatch forces to Democratic-led cities like Chicago and Baltimore as part of his initiative to combat crime.
Recently released footage captured the horrific moment when Decarlos Brown, 35, brutally attacked 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, as she sat unsuspectingly on the train last month. Zarutska had relocated to the US to seek refuge from the turmoil in her home country.
The footage shows the unhinged assailant launching himself at Zarutska from behind. It then cuts to a scene depicting Brown holding a bloodied knife while he walked through the train, with one passenger fleeing in terror.
While the images have caused nationwide outrage, the story was initially mostly ignored by the national liberal media.
An investigation by Daily Mail into police records revealed that Brown faced charges for misusing the 911 system in January, when he claimed that ‘man-made’ substances were controlling his actions.

President Donald Trump expressed his intention to review the ‘horrible’ murder of a Ukrainian woman by a repeat offender while speaking to the press on Sunday at Joint Base Andrews.

He was released without bail and a trial pending when he allegedly stabbed Zaruska to death.
Brown’s lengthy arrest records go as back as 2007, when he was still a minor.
Despite the shocking nature of the attack, the story was conspicuously missing from major US liberal media outlets, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press, and CNN.
The Daily Mail contacted the outlets for clarification on the reasoning behind their editorial judgment.
By Monday, most of the mentioned outlets had covered the story, following outrage over their prior exclusion.
Democrat Mayor of Charlotte Vi Lyles suggested that some publishers chose not to share the footage ‘out of respect for Iryna’s family.’
In her statement, she said: ‘The video of the heartbreaking attack that took Iryna Zarutska’s life is now public.
‘I want to thank our media partners and community members who have chosen not to repost or share the footage out of respect for Iryna’s family.

Suspect Decarlos Brown, 35, has spent most of his life in and out of prison. He served five years for a 2014 armed robbery and was released in September 2020 – when he quickly resumed a life of crime
‘This was a senseless and tragic loss. My prayers remain with her loved ones as they continue to grieve through an unimaginable time.
‘Like so many of you, I’m heartbroken — and I’ve been thinking hard about what safety really looks like in our city.
‘I remain committed to doing all we can to protect our residents and ensure Charlotte is a place where everyone feels safe.’
But people on social media lambasted the liberal media for the lack of coverage, with many speculating that the outlets did not want to write about the killing for racial reasons.
Elon Musk highlighted the lack of coverage by re-sharing one post counting how many articles each outlet had written about the stabbing, with the comment: ‘Zero.’
In the horrifying footage, the suspect police identified as Brown was seen watching Zarutska for some time after she sat in the seat in front of him, eventually taking out what appeared to be a blade from his pocket.
He then stood up and loomed over the 23-year-old, swinging the knife at her as she sat with her phone.

The sickening stabbing unfolded on August 22 soon after Iryna Zarutska, 23, boarded a South End light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina

Zarutska’s family called her death ‘an irreparable loss’
The knifeman was shown leaving a trail of blood throughout the train as other passengers appeared not to realize the killing that had taken place, before he casually changed his clothes.
Brown was arrested soon after and charged with first-degree murder. His bond was subsequently denied by a judge and he remains in custody.
Zarutska’s heartbroken family said on a GoFundMe page that she had only arrived in the US in 2022 ‘seeking safety from the war’ in her home country, and was ‘hoping for a new beginning’ before the slaying.
