The latest collision occurred on the eastbound lanes of I-465 near Allisonville Road in Indianapolis, as reported by the ISP.
Trooper Keith Martin had positioned his vehicle to block a lane while responding to a jackknifed semi-trailer incident.
While performing his duties, Martin’s vehicle was struck from behind by a pickup truck.

As a result of the crash, Martin suffered serious yet non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.
Also present at the scene was Lee Carnish, an off-duty officer with the Fortville Police Department. Although Carnish emerged unscathed, his vehicle sustained damage in the incident.

Juan Cuatlacuatl, 21 of Indianapolis, was identified as the driver of the pick-up. He was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing injury.
Indiana State police said this crash marks the third time in his four-year career that Trooper Martin was struck and injured by an impaired driver.
“Our first responders are out every day putting themselves in harm’s way to help, please stop crashing into them,” ISP Indianapolis District Commander Lt. Josh Watson said.
