A man and woman are set to face court after allegedly pointing a gun at police during a traffic stop in Sydney’s west before going on the run.
Nicholas Page, 29, is accused of producing the firearm after police had stopped the car he was in shortly after midday yesterday in Colyton.
Officers attempted to smash the driver’s side window before the car sped off.
A short time later, officers found the vehicle unattended on Hanlan Street in Cranebrook.
Checks revealed it had been stolen from Victoria last week.
Police patrolling the area located the man and woman on nearby Soling Crescent.
After a short foot pursuit, a 22-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station.
However Mr Page escaped on foot.
Six hours after the traffic stop on Colyton, Mr Page was recognised at a service station by an undercover police officer, who drew his weapon and arrested him.
Both Mr Page and his female passenger were refused bail and are due to face court later this week.
