At 55, Megyn Kelly is embracing life with newfound vitality, largely thanks to her disciplined diet and exercise routine. Her recent revelations about hormone replacement therapy (HRT) aiding her menopausal transition have made headlines, as she describes feeling “vibrant” once more. But there’s more to her well-being than just HRT, as she shared with the Daily Mail her energy and fitness secrets.
As a mother of three with husband Douglas Brunt, Kelly maintains her physical health through a combination of nutrition and exercise, although her approach to fitness has transformed over the years.
Reflecting on her fitness routine, she revealed, “In the past, I’ve mentioned that I engage with a personal trainer twice a week for 45-minute sessions, which keeps me committed.”
Beyond her sessions with a trainer, Kelly also exercises independently. “I usually add one or two solo workouts,” she explained, noting a preference for walking or using the elliptical over intense cardio.
On top of working out with her fitness coach, Kelly also goes it alone.
‘Usually, I do one to two times on my own in addition,’ she said, adding that she tends to avoid heavy cardio in favor of walking or some steps on the elliptical.
When she’s not sweating out at the gym, Kelly is sweating it out in a sauna.
Research has shown that the relaxing activity can aid pain relief, lower blood pressure and improve mood.

‘I sauna at least four times a week and love it,’ she enthused.
As for her nutrition, Kelly eats mostly a Mediterranean diet rich in fruit, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fish and olive oil.
‘Pretty much every day I have two to three eggs with a piece of sourdough toast and an avocado or a piece of fruit,’ she told the Daily Mail.
‘And then for both lunch and dinner, I have a lean protein and a veggie.
‘If I need a snack, it’s usually nuts with salt but no seed oils on them.’
When she gets a late-night craving, ice cream is Kelly’s go-to treat.
‘I do sometimes have some Häagen-Dazs at night – just a little,’ she said. ‘I love [the flavor] caramel cone.
‘A little goes a long way.’

Kelly’s relationship with exercise has seemingly transformed over the past decade.
In her 2016 autobiography, Settle for More, Kelly revealed she gave up on the gym after she had her three children: sons Yates, 16, and Thatcher, 12, and daughter, Yardley, 14.
During her brief time on the Today show, she also often joked about not working out, although would happily try out routines in front of the camera.
‘It’s not completely true that I hate working out,’ she told a trainer on the show in January 2018. ‘But I’m tired. I have three kids and a full-time job, and I don’t want to [do it] anymore.’
Similarly, in April 2018, she told viewers: ‘You guys know that I don’t exercise, right?’
But in recent years Kelly’s attitude has shifted.
In May 2023, Kelly voiced her commitment to The Class, a digital workout method that uses bodyweight exercises to regulate the mind.
Speaking to fitness trainer Jillian Michaels, 52, on her show, she said: ‘I’ve been doing this thing called The Class, which I actually really like.’

Detailing the results, she added: ‘It is transforming my body. I’m starting to look good. I’m starting to see some muscle definition.’
In October 2025, Kelly revealed that she works out twice a week with a personal trainer for 45 minutes.
Addressing audiences at a Turning Point USA event, she explained that in those private classes, she lifts ‘light weights.’
‘That’s it,’ she said. ‘I do walk a lot, like I do some aerobic activity, but I’m telling you, you really don’t have to do much more than that.
‘And I don’t really have a ton of time to do much more than that.’
Kelly’s relationship with food and nutrition has also evolved.
During an episode of the Today show in January 2018, she opened up about her family’s struggle with weight gain.
‘My entire family has been overweight or obese,’ she said. ‘My nana, my mom, my sister and my brother.’
Kelly herself battled with body image issues as a teenager. She recalled how she was once shamed by cruel bullies, which led her to seek out weight loss pills and restrict her intake of food to just 500 calories a day.
‘I was thin and so unhappy,’ she said. ‘As an adult, I have gotten healthier in my approach to eating but like every woman I know, still wrestle with body image and still cringe when I hear a person attacked for his or her weight.’
In the 2010s, Kelly was a big proponent of the F-Factor diet, which focuses on food that is high in fiber.

Made popular by the dietitian Tanya Zuckerbrot, the diet focuses on combining lean proteins with high-fiber carbohydrates that are low in calories and keep you feeling full throughout the day.
The diet doesn’t cut out any food groups and relies on fiber to bulk up food without adding calories while slowing digestion and revving up metabolism.
Kelly opened up about her eating habits in 2009 when she participated in the New York Diet for Grub Street.
Back in those days, Kelly seemed to be a big fan of yogurt, egg-white omelets and lots of vegetables.
That piece also revealed that Kelly takes her coffee with ‘cream and half a Splenda’ and her thoughts on bread and cake products.
‘I try to steer clear of the starches because they’re the devil,’ said Kelly, just before writing that she had a cupcake for dessert one night with friends.
