BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Authorities from the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office in Texas have apprehended a UPS worker suspected of participating in a theft ring.
San Benito resident Armando Garcia, 37, was arrested for a theft scheme at the UPS Brownsville Distribution Center.
The investigation began when UPS Security alerted the Cameron County DA’s office of missing packages from the UPS Brownsville location.
Investigators tracked the stolen devices to Garcia’s home in San Benito.
Authorities executed a search warrant on Garcia’s home and reported discovering stolen items including designer bags, clothing and electronics.
The stolen items are valued at $200,000.
“Such crimes damage both companies and consumer trust,” stated Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz. “We will not accept theft of any kind in Cameron County.”
