Tragedy struck Marion County, Florida, when a 72-year-old man from Ocala lost his life in a collision involving a train. The incident unfolded on Monday as his SUV became immobilized on the railway tracks, as confirmed by the Florida Highway Patrol.

    (SXC)

The unfortunate event occurred along State Road 326, where the man’s vehicle unexpectedly veered north for reasons still under investigation, leaving it stranded on the tracks. This unforeseen turn of events set the stage for a devastating collision.

The train collided with the left side of the SUV, resulting in severe consequences. Emergency responders rushed the man to a nearby hospital, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries, the troopers reported.

In this heart-wrenching episode, the driver was the sole victim, with no other injuries reported from the incident.

Troopers said the train then struck the left side of the vehicle.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.

    No one else was injured.
