“Our Chicago: In God We Trust…?” examines the pivotal role of the black church during the Civil Rights Movement, serving as both a spiritual haven and a central hub for organizing. The program includes archival footage of religious leaders from the Civil Rights era, such as Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., along with interviews with local pastors like Rev. Dr. Charlie Dates of Progressive Baptist Church, Rev. Reginald Sharpe of Fellowship Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Otis Moss of Trinity United Church of Christ, and Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church. ABC 7 Chicago delves into how church leaders galvanized communities and spurred action both in Chicago and nationwide.

“Our Chicago: In God We Trust…?” further investigates the impact of money in the civil rights movement, exploring the roles of figures like the Black Panthers and preachers including Chicago’s Rev.
