The cherished Danville-based Royal Donut is set to broaden its presence by launching a new shop in Champaign this autumn, taking over a well-known spot for confections.

Just days after Pandamonium Doughnuts shuttered for good on June 28, Royal Donut revealed on Independence Day that they would occupy the same location come fall. Established in Danville since 1972, this marks the first time Royal Donut will expand beyond its original city.

The new store will be located at 1105 Windsor Road. When offered the chance to assume Pandamonium Doughnuts’ lease, Royal Donut seized the opportunity, making it an ideal moment to introduce their brand to the Champaign area.

“Our donuts are not a direct replacement of their delicious and unique creations, but we hope to be a welcome addition to Champaign-Urbana,” Royal Donut said in a Facebook post.

Additionally, since 2022, Royal Donut has been a sister company of Mad Goat Coffee. This means that Royal Donut will serve Mad Goat Coffee daily, and Mad Goat will have a variety of Royal Donuts available each day.

“The C-U community has been so welcoming to the Mad Goat Coffee location in downtown Champaign, and we look forward to adding Royal Donut to the mix!” the donut shop said.

While they don’t have an opening date set just yet, they are planning to kick things off in Champaign sometime this fall. In the coming weeks and months, Royal Donut will be preparing the store on their own and building a team for the new location.

And because of this, the company is looking to hire a manager for the expansion shop. Anyone interested in the position can apply here or send their resume to applycu@royaldonut.com. For more information on Royal Donut, visit their website.
