Schiff: Trump Losing Credibility as Commander-in-Chief

In a recent appearance on CNN’s “The Source,” Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) voiced concerns over President Donald Trump’s diminishing credibility as a commander-in-chief. The discussion revolved around the ongoing international tensions and the president’s handling of diplomatic negotiations.

During the segment, Schiff expressed a desire for an end to the current conflict, acknowledging that if the president’s claims about progress in peace talks were accurate, it would be a positive development. However, he remained skeptical, citing past instances where the president’s statements proved unreliable. Schiff questioned the sincerity of these negotiations, suggesting they might be a strategy to address domestic issues, such as rising fuel prices, which have garnered significant public discontent.

Schiff criticized the administration’s approach, pointing to the allowance of $14 billion worth of Iranian oil sales and the easing of sanctions on Russian oil. He argued that these actions have been poorly executed, inadvertently benefiting nations like Russia and Iran, which have been accused of hostile actions against the United States. “It’s unthinkable,” Schiff remarked, that such countries would be financially empowered through oil sales under current U.S. policy.

Host Kaitlan Collins raised the question of the talks’ authenticity, asking if the president might be stalling for time by extending a looming deadline to Friday. Schiff responded with skepticism, doubting the seriousness of the deadline from the outset. He highlighted a pattern in the president’s behavior, where promises of action are frequently postponed, undermining his reliability as a national leader.
