The endeavor to bring an innovative healing mushroom to prominence will persist. Before the Season 1 finale this Sunday, Adult Swim has announced that Common Side Effects will return for a second season.
This animated comedy thriller, co-created by Joe Bennett (Scavengers Reign) and Steve Hely (Veep), with executive production by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels (King of the Hill), explores the consequences following the discovery of a mysterious, transformative mushroom.
“Joe and Steve succeeded in creating a groundbreaking, genre-defining TV show that redefines the potential of ‘adult animation,’” stated Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen. “And you all played your part by tuning into Adult Swim and Max to support the series and actively sharing the news on social media. So, see? We CAN have nice things.”
The half-hour series centers around Marshall and Frances, two former high school lab partners who share a remarkable secret: Marshall has discovered the world’s most extraordinary medicine, a mushroom with the ability to heal nearly anything. However, the path to introducing it to the world is fraught with obstacles, as the DEA, big pharma, and global businessmen are all trying to stop them.
The show features the voices of Joseph Lee Anderson, Mike Judge, Martha Kelly, Dave King, and Emily Pendergast.

The Season 1 finale of Common Side Effects will air this Sunday at 11:30 PM ET/PT on Adult Swim.
Produced for Adult Swim by Bandera Entertainment and Green Street Pictures, Common Side Effects will return for more adventures in Season 2.
