They went out with a bang.
A poorly rigged fireworks set-up in Alabama turned a boat into a Fourth of July fireball — and sent six men to the hospital, according to officials.
A boat designed as a fireworks platform on Lake Martin experienced a malfunction when unauthorized rockets were launched, resulting in a large explosion, according to WSFA.
Footage shared on social media captured a stunning explosion over Blue Creek waters, where the small platform was engulfed in red, white, and blue lights that both descended and burst with intensity.
Images show the aftermath — a burnt-out platform covered in soot with a pair of sneakers apparently abandoned.
Despite the dazzling sight, the crew aboard suffered minor injuries and were forced to put a hold on the much anticipated annual show.
All six men were treated at area hospitals for minor injuries.
The fireworks display is currently under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Alabama Fire Marshal Office.
