TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — An Alabama man was arrested following a hit-and-run that left a woman with life-threatening injuries Sunday night.
The Tuscaloosa police have confirmed a collision occurred at approximately 9:28 p.m. at the corner of James Harrison Parkway and Greensboro Avenue. The incident involved a driver attempting to make a turn onto Greensboro Avenue who allegedly hit a 34-year-old woman. According to police, the driver initially stopped at the scene but left just as officers were arriving.
The driver has been identified by police as 44-year-old Granville Jermaine Hardy. He faces charges for fleeing the scene of an accident that resulted in injuries and has been taken into custody at the Tuscaloosa County Jail. Investigators mentioned that they do not suspect Hardy was under the influence at the time of the incident.
The woman was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center was treatment, and later flown to a hospital in Huntsville for further care.
