A feisty kangaroo was filmed throwing punches at an American tourist in a Perth wildlife park, much to the amusement of onlookers.

The kangaroo singled out the visitor and began throwing punches in a brawl that was captured on camera.

The incident began with the kangaroo — which appeared to be a smaller western grey — following a woman and child at Cohunu Koala Park in Western Australia.

A man intervened, stepping between the kangaroo and woman — and an energetic boxing match ensued.

The roo immediately raised itself to its full height and began to swat at the American with its front paws.

A younger man tried to get the kangaroo to stop fighting with the man, but his efforts did not last long.

The tourist can be seen attempting to hold the roo at arm’s length by its neck, occasionally adding a defensive leg into the mix, but this only caused the roo to hop and lunge.

About 30 seconds into the brawl, a younger man entered the frame and seemingly tried to calm the marsupial, causing it to briefly pause its assault.

But the ceasefire didn’t last long. The two men are seen walking away from the fight on multiple occasions, but it seems the roo only wanted more.

At one point, both men had hold of one of the kangaroo’s front paws, causing it to rear up onto its muscular tail and kick them in a swift and sensational maneuver.

The fight between the men and the kangaroo lasted around 2 minutes before the staff of the park stepped in.

After a solid two-minute brawl, a woman who appeared to work at the park walked over and scolded the kangaroo, pointing at it with a stern finger. Amazingly, the roo calmed down and abandoned the fight.

News.com.au understands both men and roo walked away uninjured, despite a few successful hits from both sides.

A video of the incident was widely shared online and gathered a slew of commenters.

“Well handled but very lucky it wasn’t a big red!!” one person wrote.

“He handled that very well,” added another. “Approached the situation calmly but confidently. Lucky it was only a mid-size roo ‘cause they can do a lot of damage.”

“Well done, what a great way to handle our national emblem in a non-natural environment,” praised a third. “Thank you for your kindness and patience.”

Of course, there were plenty of jokes at the man’s expense.

“Well done skippy!” one person quipped.
