Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour has revealed why she believes Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are one of the most influential couples in fashion – and what they’ll bring to the 2025 Met Gala.

Wintour shared her thoughts with Entertainment Tonight this week as the Met Gala approaches on May 5.

This year’s theme will be ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ and A$AP is co-hosting the event alongside Wintour, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton and Pharrell Williams.

Speaking to the outlet, Wintour shared how much of a fan she is of the couple, and how they’ve been able to make a mark on the fashion industry. 

‘Well, I mean, first of all, they’re very talented, they’re very brilliant, I think they have wonderful values, and they have an enormous amount of style,’ Wintour told Entertainment Tonight.

‘I actually talked to A$AP Rocky yesterday about what he was going to wear, but no clue on what she’s going to wear yet,’ she added about the upcoming event.

Wintour also admitted that she was looking forward to this year’s theme. 

‘I think it’s wonderful that the museum is putting a spotlight on menswear for the first time in a long time, and also the amazing talent of many Black designers and for me, it’s a joy and an honor to work at the Met,’ the editor-in-chief said.

And it looks like Rihanna is equally as big of a fan of Wintour.

In October, she told Access Hollywood how excited she was for this year’s Met Ball.  

‘This is probably one of my favorite themes of all of them, I’ve had tons of incredible themes with the Met ball that I enjoy but this one, it made me respect it so much more,’ the Fenty Beauty founder told the outlet at the time.

Rihanna said that she hoped that this year’s party would mark a ‘historic milestone’ due to the important theme. 

‘It’s also a celebration of history and it’s just bringing it to the forefront on a platform where we’ve been kind of hidden and it’s just accepting it, like yeah! We got this!’ Rihanna said.

‘We’ve been doing this and now I’m excited to see Anna Wintour put that on the forefront, so much respect, I can’t wait to be there. I’m not going to miss this one.’

Last year, Rihanna unfortunately had to miss the Gala, as she came down with the flu.

Her husband also opted to sit out of the event as well.

In 2023, the couple rocked some high-fashion looks in New York, as the theme that year was ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.’

Rihanna wore a custom silk Valentino Haute Couture dress with a stunningly long train, along with a cape that featured 30 giant camellia appliqués made of 500 petals.

The dress showed off her baby bump, as she was carrying the couple’s second child, son Riot Rose, at the time.

The two also share son RZA, who was born in May 2022.

A$AP opted for an all-Gucci look of jeans, a red kilt, black blazer and skinny tie as he channeled Lagerfeld himself.

This year’s Met Gala will fall on Monday, May 5 in New York City.
