Authorities in Arkansas report a tragic turn of events during a family hike, where a 28-year-old schoolteacher is accused of fatally attacking a married couple in the presence of their children at Devil’s Den State Park.

The Arkansas State Police apprehended Andrew James McGann at a barbershop in Springdale at 4:57 p.m. on Wednesday. Officials revealed that McGann was getting a haircut when ASP officers located him after the fatal incident on Saturday.

McGann faces two charges of capital murder regarding the deaths of Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, discovered on a hiking trail. Their daughters, aged 7 and 9, were unharmed and are currently being looked after by relatives, according to authorities.

Here is a timeline of what we know so far about the suspect and the killings:

— McGann appeared in Washington County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing. He was formally advised of his rights and the charges against him.

Prosecutors confirmed he is being held without bond. A public defender was appointed. Arraignment was set for Aug. 25, 2025.
