The Birmingham Police Department has apprehended a suspect linked to a deadly shooting in the Ensley area early Thursday morning.
As per the BPD, an individual passing by found a man with a visible gunshot wound collapsed in an alley on 17th Street Ensley at about 3 a.m. Thursday. The victim has been recognized as 38-year-old Corey Lavel Tremble from Birmingham, who succumbed to his injuries at the location.
BPD homicide detectives identified the suspect as Julius Earl Johnson, 57, of Birmingham.
Detectives have shared the details of the case with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. Consequently, Johnson was charged with Murder and given a warrant for Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm.
Johnson was taken into custody by BPD’s Crime Reduction Team Friday in the 2200 block of 47th Street Ensley. He is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail.
