Pam Bondi, the Attorney General, has reached a decision. On Monday, the Justice Department officially lodged a complaint, accusing Boasberg of improper behavior.
Chad Mizelle, the AG’s Chief of Staff, drafted the complaint following Bondi’s instructions. It was directed to Sri Srinivasan, the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
Mr. Mizelle states, “The Department of Justice formally presents this complaint, accusing U.S. District Court Chief Judge James E. Boasberg of misconduct. This is due to allegedly making inappropriate public remarks about President Donald J. Trump to the Chief Justice of the United States and other federal judges, which have compromised the judiciary’s integrity and impartiality.”
Judge Boasberg is presiding over a high-profile case involving the deportation of several migrants to El Salvador and has talked about holding DOJ lawyers in contempt because of his assertion that his order to turn airborne planes around was not followed. President Trump has also made critical comments about Judge Boasberg.
