Ben Affleck looked relaxed on Saturday as he enjoyed some family time with his son and mother in Los Angeles.

The Oscar winner, 52 – who showed off a gray-free beard at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday – still sported his fresh new look while running errands. 

The Hollywood A-lister stepped out in a sage green button down shirt with rolled up sleeves, black jeans and black and gray sneakers. 

His son Sam, 13, kept apace, wearing  beige T-shirt with gray images and the word ‘Shadow’ on it, with a pair of black joggers and white sneakers. 

Sam is the youngest of Affleck’s three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. The pair also share Violet, 19, and Fin, 16.  

Affleck’s mother, Christopher Anne Boldt, looked casually chic in a white sweater over a gray T-shirt, black pants and black sneakers.

The Good Will Hunting actor and writer was raised by his mother after she and his father, Tim Affleck, split when he was 11. 

It was her influence that introduced him and his younger brother Casey, 49, to the arts, and her friendship with a local casting director in Boston that helped both brothers launch their acting careers. 

Affleck’s recent makeover was most likely for his current project, Animals. 

He stars as a mayoral candidate and his wife whose son has been kidnapped.  

The couple are surrounded by plenty of enemies, political and otherwise, and decide to resort to extreme measures to save their son.   

Affleck was seen wearing a wide, gold wedding band as part of his costume when he stepped out to take a smoke on Friday afternoon in East Los Angeles. 

His character was dressed in a button down shirts and charcoal plaid jacket while he puffed away and enjoyed a soft drink. 

Affleck, who is sober, had quit smoking back in 2005 with the help of a hypnotists, but picked up the habit again a decade later, around the time he and ex-wife Jennifer Garner separated. 

‘People with compulsive behavior, and I am one, have this kind of basic discomfort all the time that they’re trying to make go away,’ he told The New York Times in 2020.

As he deals with the repercussions of his divorce from Jennifer Lopez after two years of marriage, the actor revealed he found the situation ’embarrassing’ in an interview with GQ; former couple seen in 2024 in Beverly Hills 

‘You’re trying to make yourself feel better with eating or drinking or sex or gambling or shopping or whatever. But that ends up making your life worse. Then you do more of it to make that discomfort go away. Then the real pain starts. It becomes a vicious cycle you can’t break. That’s at least what happened to me.’

As he deals with the repercussions of his divorce from Jennifer Lopez after two years of marriage, the actor revealed he found the situation ’embarrassing’ in an interview with GQ.

The star said of there was ‘no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue, behind the breakup, but rather It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.’

While Affleck has been hesitant to speak out about the break, is because ‘I don’t want to share that is just sort of embarrassing. It feels vulnerable.’ 

While Affleck was on his smoke break, co-star Steven Yuen, who also worked with him on the upcoming RIP, was also spotted on the set. 

He stars as the candidate’s campaign manager. 

Kerry Washington stars as his wife and Gillian Anderson is a political fixer. 

Not only is Affleck starring in the project, but is he directing as well.

Affleck is currently directing and starring in Animals, a political thriller for Netflix, co-starring Kerry Washington and Gillian Anderson 

Co-star Steven Yuen, who starred in Affleck in the upcoming RIP is also working on Animals 

The Netflix movie is being produced through and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity and Damon is listed as a producer on the project as well. 

According Netflix, the thriller ’embraces’ the city of Los Angeles ‘as an integral part of the story,’ 

The streamer said ‘The producers are committed to supporting the local film industry, keeping jobs within the community, and reinforcing LA as a hub for filmmaking.’ 

Animals is expected to be released later this year.
