A cargo vessel ignited in flames at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro on Friday, prompting the evacuation of its crew, in what authorities labeled a significant emergency situation.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that all 23 crew members were safely evacuated from the ship, and no injuries have been reported.
The blaze spread across multiple levels of the vessel, and hazardous materials were discovered in the affected areas. Hazmat teams are actively monitoring the air quality, according to the department.

An explosion occurred around 8 p.m. on the mid-deck, disrupting power systems, including lighting and crane operations.
Over 100 firefighters were dispatched to tackle the situation, officials stated.
