Blue Island man Derek Rucker pleads guilty of of battering several women, police officer in Chicago, Evanston, CPD and docs show

A man from Blue Island has admitted to a series of assaults in Chicago and Evanston, according to court documents. The incidents have unfolded over the past few weeks, as confirmed by Chicago police.

Derek Rucker, aged 37, faced charges including aggravated battery against a transit employee or passenger, aggravated battery in a public area, and aggravated battery against a peace officer.

The arrest followed an incident where Rucker allegedly struck a 44-year-old woman in the face, causing her to fall on North State Street, in the 500 block. This arrest was part of a broader pattern of behavior that has been under police scrutiny.

Rucker was arrested shortly after hitting a 44-year-old woman in the face, causing her to fall to the ground in the 500-block of North State Street, police said.

He’s also charged in connection with other aggravated battery incidents, including on Wednesday in the 4600-block of North Broadway involving a 40-year-old woman; on Sept. 30 in the 1200-block of West Loyola Avenue involving a 23-year-old woman, on Sept. 30 in the 300-block of Ridge Avenue in Evanston involving an off-duty police officer; and on Sept. 21 in the 900-block of West Belmont Avenue involving a 27-year-old woman, police said.

On Wednesday, Rucker pleases guilty on separate counts of agg. battery to a peace officer; agg. battery in a public place; agg battery to trransit employee; and two counts of burglary.

He was sentenced to 7 years IDOC on each count, all to be served concurrently.
