'Comrade Newsom' Street Art Hits LA, Sacramento As the Lampooning of the CA Gov. Continues Apace

California Governor Gavin Newsom has found himself in a challenging period, amid speculation about a potential presidential bid. His administration has faced significant setbacks, including a costly high-speed rail project criticized as a “train to nowhere,” a burgeoning homeless crisis, and a notable exodus of residents and businesses. Furthermore, the aftermath of the devastating 2025 wildfires in Los Angeles has been marked by a sluggish recovery effort.

These issues are just the tip of the iceberg.

Instead of focusing solely on California’s pressing problems, Newsom recently attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, aiming to assert himself on the global stage. However, his appearance drew criticism from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who did not hold back in highlighting the governor’s shortcomings and the challenges California faces under his leadership.

Adding to his woes, Newsom was unable to deliver his planned speech at the USA House pavilion in Davos. Instead, he watched as former President Donald Trump addressed the international audience, emphasizing American strength in the economic and military arenas.

Another Setback for Gavin Newsom as He’s Denied Speaking Opportunity at USA House Pavilion in Davos

Now that Davos is over, Newsom has some new mockery to contend with: street art titled “Comrade Newsom” showing him in communist gear. Fits pretty well, no?

Did the new book, The Invisible Coup: How American Elites and Foreign Powers Use Immigration as a Weapon, by investigative journalist Peter Schweizer, inspire the art?

The street art appears to hit many of the bombshell themes in Schweizer’s book, now the #1 book on Amazon, from the “Manchurian Generation” of more than one million Chinese with U.S. citizenship who grew up in communist China and could be eligible to vote in the 2030 American elections to the thousands of Chinese pilots sent to the U.S. and taught to fly.

Online sleuths suspect the work might be the legendary street artist Sabo, whom RedState has reported on before. He’s put up some pretty funny — but right on the mark — material before:

I often think that humor is one of the best political weapons there is, because if it’s good, it can expose the foibles of some of our worst politicians in an image instead of hundreds of words (not that I’m opposed to words, too — they work hand in hand).

Images like this remind us of when Newsom basically admitted in 2023 that he only cleaned up the famously disgusting streets of San Francisco because Chinese President Xi Jinping was coming to town. (They soon went back to their normal gross, dangerous conditions).

If this does turn out to be Sabo’s handiwork, I hope there’s plenty more coming.

Editor’s Note: Gavin Newsom wants to turn America into one big version of California – a failed, overtaxed, dystopian nightmare.
