BREAKING: Kirstie Alley Dies at 71

Actress Kirstie Alley, who was famous for playing Rebecca Howe in “Cheers,” died at 71 years old on Monday.

Her children, True and Lillie Parker, posted a statement to Alley’s Twitter about her death due to a recent fight with cancer.

“We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered,” the statement said.

“She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

The children asked that their privacy is respected:

“We are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center for their care. Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, her grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did. We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.”

The “Veronica’s Closet” and “Star Trek II” star was also outspoken against COVID-19 restrictions in her later years, and she was known as one of the few vocal conservatives in Hollywood.

Alley also appeared on “Dancing with the Stars” in seasons 12 and 15.

The actress had two prior marriages, the first with Parker Stevenson of “The Hardy Boys” and the second with Bob Alley.
