Aurora police quickly responded to the situation, arriving just after 9:30 a.m. They located the vehicles at the intersection of 4th Avenue and South State Street, in close proximity to East Aurora High School. At this point, the suspect, identified later as Dustin R. Legat, was standing outside his vehicle.

During the subsequent interaction, an officer discharged their firearm, hitting the suspect’s vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

Following the shooting, the officer involved was taken to a local hospital for a routine evaluation.

Dustin R. Legat, 48, was apprehended at the scene. Authorities have confirmed that he has no ties to any law enforcement agencies, contrary to his earlier claims.

Legat is facing charges of False Impersonation of a Peace Officer, Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Blue Oscillating Flashing Lights, officials confirmed on Monday.
