JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is on the mend after sustaining a gunshot wound to the face at an apartment complex in Jacksonville’s Woodland Acres neighborhood on Thursday night, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Officers responded to a shooting call on the 8200 block of Kona Avenue around 7:20 p.m., according to JSO.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the injured man standing outside a building within the apartment complex.

The man provided “conflicting statements” regarding the location of the incident, JSO noted.

“The victim informed detectives he was shot by an unknown assailant in the complex’s parking lot,” JSO told First Coast News. “However, a thorough search of the parking area did not reveal any crime scene.”

Currently, there is no available description of the shooter, JSO added.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
