Update: Illegal Alien Truck Driver Who Allegedly Killed 3 Ordered Held Without Bail

Harjinder Singh, an undocumented individual from India who allegedly executed an unauthorized U-turn in a tractor-trailer he was driving in Florida, resulting in a collision that led to three fatalities, has been detained without the possibility of bail.

A man from California has been accused of vehicular homicide and manslaughter following a two-vehicle accident on Florida’s Turnpike that claimed three lives earlier this month. He has been ordered to be held without bail.

Harjinder Singh, 28, an unauthorized immigrant from India, made his initial court appearance on Aug. 23 via a Zoom link from the St. Lucie County Jail to the Fort Pierce courthouse. He faces three counts each of vehicular homicide and manslaughter.

No bail was set for each of the six charges, primarily because of his status as an undocumented immigrant.

“The court identifies you as a significant flight risk, and no conditions of release would guarantee your presence at trial,” declared 19th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Lauren Sweet regarding Singh.

To clarify some points: Harjinder Singh is not described accurately as a “California man.” He is an individual from India residing unlawfully in the United States. He does not fall under the category of an “undocumented immigrant” but is technically considered an illegal alien. It appears he lacks proficiency in speaking, understanding, or reading English.

But even so, Gavin Newsom’s California saw fit to give him a Commercial Driver’s License, or CDL.

Last week, my colleague Bonchie reported on the CDL story:

Bonchie writes:

In-cab footage revealed Harjinder Singh and a companion driver utilizing an “official use only” turnaround on a highway. As they merged into oncoming traffic, a minivan collided with the trailer’s side, rendering it unidentifiable. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of its three occupants, and Singh now faces manslaughter charges while in custody.

That wasn’t the end of the ordeal, though. As Florida authorities began to dig into the truck driver’s background, they discovered he’s an illegal immigrant. Worse, he was issued a commercial driver’s license under Newsom’s sanctuary state policies.

The driving companion in this case is Mr. Singh’s brother, who has been detained by ICE and will be repatriated.

The details of this case just keep unfolding, and it goes well beyond Harjinder Singh. But he is the focus today; note his detached, somewhat unreadable behavior in the courtroom:

This, along with our previous reporting, prompts some questions.
