THE son of a British man accused of trying to drown his own daughter-in-law was jailed in 2023 for running over his own dad.
Alex Gibbon, 34, pleaded guilty to assaulting his father with an £80,000 Porsche – just two years after he separated from Jasmine Wyld, 33.
Mark Gibbon, 62, is currently incarcerated following charges of attempted murder, accused of supposedly holding Wyld’s head underwater at a Florida resort pool during a dispute over his will.
The father and daughter-in-law reportedly had been in a secret relationship, but denied it to cops following Gibbon’s arrest.
In addition to assaulting his father, Alex admitted to harassing Wyld, who is his ex-wife and the mother of his two children, as reported by the Times.
The father and son have had several major issues in recent years with the car attack leaving Alex behind bars.
He hit Mark while driving an £80,000 Porsche Cayenne in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, in May 2023.
Alex received a sentence at Aylesbury crown court of 25 months in prison, a 36-month driving ban, a five-year restraining order, and a surcharge.
He was released from jail around six months ago and went to move in with his mum who had divorced Mark some years earlier.
The family are now facing further legal troubles in the US involving Mark and Wyld.
The pair were on holiday together at the Solterra Resort in Devenport, near Disney World, Florida with the two children.
Mark and Wyld soon began arguing over the “stipulations of his will” around a pool, according to US police.
The granddad then pushed Jasmine’s head “under the water and held her down multiple times”, according to the arrest affidavit.
She told cops after the ordeal she “could not breathe and believed that she was going to drown,” according to Polk’s County Sheriff’s Office.
According to deputies, Jasmine was forced to “fight Mark in order to get away from him and from under the water but he kept pushing her back under”.
Her nine-year-old daughter, not understanding what was happening, leaped into the water to defend her mother.
She tried desperately to intervene, but Mark allegedly kept pushing her away.
Wyld spotted some two women in the distance and screamed at them to call 911.
Mark is said to have stopped only when the sisters said they were calling the sheriff’s office.
He now faces one count of attempted murder and two counts of battery.
When questioned, Mark allegedly admitted to pushing Jasmine underwater, but insisted he hadn’t been trying to drown her.
He claimed they had been drinking, began arguing and that she slapped him – which triggered the fight, reports Law & Crime.
Mark is a lighting technician, who runs his own firm called MRG Lighting.
He has worked on music videos for Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Paloma Faith, according to his website, as well as on film and TV sets.
Alex used to work for his father but reportedly left the business in 2023.
