A man in the Bronx became the target of a brutal shooting on Tuesday, sustaining three gunshot wounds, law enforcement officials reported.

The victim, aged 54, was seated in the driver’s seat of a black sedan parked outside the Cea-Lo Cafe on Soundview Avenue, near Bruckner Boulevard, when the assailant opened fire at approximately 7 p.m., according to police statements.

Investigations revealed that the gunman discharged four rounds, with bullets penetrating both the driver’s side door and the windshield. The victim was hit twice in his left arm and once in the torso, police confirmed.

Emergency responders transported the injured man to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

A close friend of the victim shared with the Daily News that the man, affectionately known as “Gordo,” had roots in the Sotomayor Houses, located just across Soundview Avenue from the shooting site.

“He’s really well-loved by many,” the friend remarked, highlighting the community’s support for him.

“He’s a great citizen. He gave out Thanksgiving dinners to everyone. On Halloween he gave all the kids candy, and at the begging of school he gave out book bags.”

The victim appeared alert and able to sit up as medics treated him, the friend said.

“He’s a big dude,” he said. “It will take a lot to kill him.”

There were no immediate arrests in the attack.
