Brunswick police officer placed on administrative leave after being arrested in domestic dispute

Authorities in Brunswick have identified at least three juveniles and an 18-year-old in connection with recent shootings.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The Brunswick Police Department disclosed on Wednesday that several teens have been linked to and charged in two shooting incidents that occurred in March.

According to the police, officers were dispatched to the Brooklyn Homes North apartments on Stonewall Street around 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they found multiple cars damaged and noted structural harm to a building within the complex.

While investigating, an area resident alerted officers to another shooting near the 2400 block of Cleburne Street, believed to be related to the first incident.

Through surveillance footage, investigators identified two potential suspect vehicles involved: a white Ford Escape and a dark-colored Buick LaCrosse.

As of Wednesday, April 1, the police department has identified and charged three juveniles with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, firing a weapon from a highway, first-degree criminal damage to property, and possessing a firearm under the age of 18. While their identities remain undisclosed, the teens are currently detained at the Department of Juvenile Justice.

An 18-year-old, LaDonte Roberts, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, discharge of a firearm from a highway, and criminal damage to property in the first degree. Roberts is currently in custody with the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office.

While this case remains active, any information regarding the teens or incidents is asked to contact Detective Melissa Howell by calling 912-279-2606, or remain anonymous by calling the Silent Witness line 912-267-5516.
