Caitlin Clark owns yet another record.
A new WNBA rookie record was set by the Indiana Fever superstar as she made her 86th 3-pointer of the season, breaking the previous record of 85 set by Rhyne Howard of the Atlanta Dream in 2022.
The historic shot happened in the early stages of Wednesday’s game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse between the Fever and the Connecticut Sun. Clark made a remarkable stepback 3-pointer with 7:17 remaining in the first quarter.
It was the only 3-point shot that Clark knocked down in the first quarter.
Prior to this achievement, Clark had equalled the record during a game on Monday night against Atlanta where she scored 19 points in front of a record crowd cheering for the Dream at State Farm Arena.

The 86 made 3s this season get her closer to the WNBA single-season record of 128 that was set just last season by New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu.
Ionescu surpassed the record set by Diana Taurasi in 2006 when she knocked down 121.
“It’s an honor, any time you’re able to pass arguably the greatest basketball player that ever played in the WNBA,” Ionescu told reporters after passing Taurasi’s record, according to ESPN.

With the rookie record firmly in hand, the outside focus will be on the single-season 3-point record and whether that could be in reach.
The Fever are down to just nine regular-season games after Wednesday night, with Clark entering Wednesday’s game averaging 2.8 3-pointers made per game.
Clark has averaged 3.5 3-pointers made per contest in her last four games leading up to Wednesday.
All of this comes after Clark set the Division I mark — both men’s and women’s — for points in a college basketball career.
The Fever entered the night 6-4 in their last 10 games and sat seventh in the WNBA standings with a 14-16 record.
