A brutal car and knife attack near a UK synagogue on Yom Kippur, the most sacred day in the Jewish year, resulted in at least two deaths and several injuries.
The incident occurred outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester shortly after 9:30 a.m., while many people were inside for worship, according to the police.
According to witnesses, a car drove into pedestrians, followed by a stabbing incident where a man was left in a pool of blood outside the synagogue amid the chaos.
The madman responsible was quickly shot dead by cops, Greater Manchester Police said.
“I’m appalled by the attack at a synagogue in Crumpsall,” Prime Minister Keir Starmer said.
The fact that this has taken place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more horrific.”
