Reports suggest that Carolyn Wiger has been “cut” from the 50th season of Survivor, with sources indicating she is “furious” about the decision, as she perceives it as punishment for her involvement in The Traitors.
Carolyn, who boosted her popularity earlier this year following her participation in Season 3 of The Traitors, charmed audiences with her sharp wit and fiery demeanor. This surge in fans led to widespread speculation that she would be included in the upcoming all-star season of Survivor 50, which features returning contestants.
Despite widespread fan calls for Carolyn’s inclusion in the season, it was surprising when she was ultimately left out. A source revealed to The U.S. Sun: “Carolyn was told she had a spot on Survivor 50 but now it’s not happening. It wasn’t signed yet but they verbally told her she would be on but just cut her. Without warning.”
The insider added that Carolyn is ‘furious’ about the situation. “Her blood is boiling,” the source continued. “She’s upset mainly because of the reason — she fully believes the producers have a chip on their shoulder about Survivor players who go on to do other shows. I mean, Jeff himself has even said that he has a problem with it. She feels she was done dirty and feels the producers need to get over it, people go on other shows all the time, it’s how they make money. They cannot be mad at their contestants for staying employed, it’s f**king ridiculous.”
Carolyn wasn’t the only one cut — several other players from recent seasons were also informed they wouldn’t be returning. The drug counselor and life coach hinted at her frustration in an Instagram Story she shared on Wednesday night.
“Schedule just cleared up for the Summer. Does anyone have a contact at Deal or No Deal Island or Survivor Australia?” she wrote over a clip of herself from The Traitors. This seemed to be a jab at Survivor 50, which will be filming this summer.
Carolyn also posted a clip of Survivor host and executive producer Jeff Probst expressing his disdain for other television networks ‘stealing’ his contestants. As The Traitors continues to rise in popularity on Peacock, owned by NBCUniversal, contestants from networks like CBS, MTV, ABC, and VH1 are flocking to the platform, which is known for offering a higher-than-average appearance fee.
Fans reacted with outrage on social media following Carolyn’s Instagram Story, which strongly hinted that she won’t be part of Survivor 50. One Twitter user wrote: “Carolyn is one of the few new era players who SHOULD have been a shoo-in for #Survivor50. Wtf are Probst and CBS doing???”
Another added: “WHY THE FK WOULD THEY CUT CAROLYN FROM SEASON 50! DON’T GIVE ME THE FKING OG LEGACY BULLS**T BECAUSE CAROLYN IS ONE THE BIGGEST PLAYERS OF THE NEW ERA.”
One fan speculated: “I’m genuinely shocked Carolyn wasn’t at the top of the list for 50 and I’m wondering if it has something to do with Traitors.”
“Okay I am glad CBS is cutting a lot of new era people for 50 but Carolyn should NOT have been included in that,” another commenter insisted.
