DHS probes whether agents killed VA nurse following accidental discharge during Minneapolis ICE raid

Two agents from U.S. Customs and Border Protection have been placed on administrative leave following a deadly encounter with Alex Pretti. This decision, confirmed by Fox News, comes after the agents discharged their weapons during the incident.

A memorial for Renee Good and Alex Pretti

Flowers and mementos now adorn a memorial in Minneapolis, Minnesota, honoring Renée Good and Alex Pretti. On January 24, federal agents fatally shot Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse, during a confrontation on an icy Minneapolis road. This tragedy occurred just weeks after an immigration officer shot and killed 37-year-old Renée Good while she was in her car. These events have sparked renewed criticism, with some alleging that federal agents involved in President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement are lacking in experience, insufficiently trained, and deviating from established law enforcement protocols.

The Department of Homeland Security emphasized that placing the agents on leave is a routine measure and does not imply any presumption of misconduct. For the time being, the agents will not be participating in field duties.
