BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Crimson Tide is set to take on Duke in the Elite Eight tonight in Newark, New Jersey.
Alabama’s looking to make it back to the Final Four for the second year in a row.
Duke’s Cooper Flagg averages 23 points, seven boards and four assists a game. Alabama coach Nate Oats says that what makes Flagg such a hard match-up isn’t his one-on-one opportunities, but his basketball IQ, knowing how to give up the ball at the right time to set up success for his teammates.
“He’s gonna find his way to score some buckets, that’s just it. What you can’t have is him scoring 25, and then eight, nine, ten assists, and then picking up all these fouls. You’re gonna have to decide what you wanna do,” Oats said. “Some of their guys, you better not help very far off, because they can really shoot it.”
“So, we’re gonna have to be on top of our game plan with them and have a couple different options, because I think if you just do the same thing with them all the time, they’re smart enough to figure it out pretty quick,” he added.
The game is set to tip off at 7:49 p.m. Saturday.
