A person riding public transportation in Massachusetts has been detained following a video by a bystander, which captured the moment an elderly woman was pushed off a bus and harshly hit the ground. This is yet another instance of violence documented in a significant blue city’s transit system.

The individual taken into custody has been named as Luz Pineda, as reported by the Boston Globe. MBTA Transit Police confirmed to Fox News Digital that Pineda was apprehended on Wednesday.

Authorities noted that the incident took place on September 8 at about 1 p.m. at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Warren Street, roughly three miles away from Boston’s Fenway Park.

Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles addressed the public’s concerns while vowing to review the city’s public transit safety operations.

“City officials are striving to enhance safety both within our community and across our transit system, and efforts will persist,” Lyles expressed in a post on X.

Lyles also mentioned that changes throughout the transit network are forthcoming, including a surge in security measures with the anticipated addition of nearly “30 more security personnel” to the Blue Line.

“We are dedicated to collaborating with everyone to maintain our community’s safety,” Lyles wrote. “I have faith in Charlotte, and we will emerge stronger, united.”
