CHICAGO — A drive-by shooting in Chicago has resulted in the deaths of four individuals and the hospitalization of 14 others due to gunshot injuries, police reported on Thursday. Among the injured, at least three are in critical condition.

The incident occurred late Wednesday in Chicago’s River North area. Various media sources indicated that the shooting took place outside a restaurant and lounge, which was the venue for a rapper’s album release party.

Someone opened fire into a crowd standing outside, police said, and the vehicle immediately drove away.

No one was in custody, police said.

According to preliminary police information, the victims included 13 women and five men, aged between 21 and 32. Two men and two women were among those who lost their lives. The injured were transported to several hospitals, the police noted.

Chris King, a spokesperson for Northwestern Medicine, said the emergency department was evaluating several people injured in the shooting. He could not provide the number of people sent to the hospital or their conditions.
