An innocent dad was hit and killed by a suspect who police say was fleeing a smash-and-grab robbery on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.
Mark Arceta was taking his usual drive to his hospital job when tragedy struck, resulting in his untimely death. Age 40, he leaves behind a newborn son, who arrived just a day after his passing. His girlfriend shared the heartbreak with Fox News.
“They were hesitant to inform me because of my pregnancy. They didn’t want me to be anxious. I took the call, and I couldn’t believe it,” Roanne Masangkay explains.

Alton Jackson, aged 37, was on parole as of May, having served a two-year sentence for firearm possession as a felon. This marks his fifth arrest in Chicago since he turned 18.
Harvey Fischer, 26, has been arrested six times so far by Chicago Police.
The Arceta family reports that Mark was heading to his final shift before taking paternity leave, eager for his second child’s arrival. His partner remains in shock, calling for justice and hoping the offenders remain in custody.

“I wish for my son to understand how dearly loved his dad was. Mark fulfilled all my desires, was unselfish, kind-hearted, and consistently aided those in need,” Masangkay remarks.
A GoFundMe page titled “Please help the family of Mark Carlo Arceta” has been raising money for his relatives.
