CHICAGO (WLS) — Officials from the village of Broadview are scheduled to address the press Tuesday morning regarding the situation at the ICE facility where unrest erupted on Saturday.

The village representatives plan to discuss what they describe as the unwarranted deployment of chemical agents by ICE, which they claim has affected local residents, emergency personnel, and demonstrators. Additionally, they will talk about ongoing criminal investigations related to ICE’s actions.

The press conference is set for 11 a.m. Attendees are expected to include Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson, Police Chief Thomas Mills, Acting Fire Chief Matt Martin from the Broadview Fire Department, along with Oak Park Mayor Vicki Scaman, and Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins.

Five individuals are now facing federal charges, accused of assault or resistance against agents at the ICE facility in Broadview. All made court appearances on Monday.

Two are still in custody including a man who supporters say is neurodivergent.

Footage obtained by ABC7 from Saturday shows the arrest sequence of a 26-year-old Oak Park resident, who faces allegations of threatening to kill border patrol agents and reportedly grabbing an agent’s helmet, pulling the agent’s head down during the arrest.

Ivery is being detained, at least until his next hearing.
