CHICAGO (WLS) — Nearly a dozen detectives and investigators descended on a Logan Square two-flat at dusk on Monday night.

Crime scene tape made it clear that the home is the center of an active investigation. Police have been going in and out of the building for several hours on Monday evening.

Brittany Battaglia’s family and roommate said that home was the last place she was known to be on Friday evening. They said she’d go there to see her boyfriend.

“She told me that she was going to go over there, cook him a meal, make sure he ate something, drink some waters. She was going to come back home to get ready for her friends mom’s birthday party,” said Quamieshia Greathouse, Brittany’s roommate and best friend.

That was the last time Quamieshia heard from 33-year-old Brittany. Around that same exact time on Friday evening, Brittany’s brother AJ Battaglia noticed something strange.

“We noticed her location was off, wasn’t shared with us anymore as it usually is,” AJ said.

As the weekend ticked by, it was hour after hour of unusual radio silence.

“It’s unlike Brittany not to be communicative. She lives on her phone,” AJ said.

Battaglia was supposed to leave for a work trip early Monday morning.

“I’m still waiting for evidence that she had at least come home, started packing, preparing for the trip, and nothing,” Quamieshia said.

By Sunday night, her roommate panicked and reached out to Battaglia’s family. They drove straight through the night from northwest Illinois.

“I would not have gone to the police department in the middle of the night to fill out a police report if I didn’t think she was in danger,” AJ said. “Something happened to her. That’s all I know.”

Brittany’s friends and family said her boyfriend, who is a relatively new addition to her life, has been acting unstable recently. Her brother said he reached out to him Sunday night, but he was not helpful.

AJ said Brittany’s cell phone stopped ringing on Monday. Quamieshia said her roommate’s car, which was parked a few blocks from the house, in front of her apartment, disappeared sometime Saturday night.

The family said they’re in close contact with detectives, and they’re still hoping to get some positive news.

Police said Battaglia lives in the 1900-block of North Kimball Ave, in the city’s Logan Square neighborhood.

Battaglia is described as a 33-year-old white woman, 5 ft. 2 in. tall and 180 lbs., with blue eyes and blonde hair. Police said she may be in her vehicle, which is a 2013 blue Mazda with Illinois license plate DS15953.

If you have any information about her whereabouts, contact Area Five detectives at 312-746-6554.
