There is very heavy rain in narrow lines in the area Friday.

Some streets are flooding on Chicago’s Southwest Side.

The weather continues to be humid; although, temperatures have dropped, ABC7 Chicago meteorologist Tracy Butler said.

That means showers and heavy downpours and storms are possible anywhere at any time.

The National Weather Service has released a special weather alert regarding funnel clouds spanning from LaSalle County through southern Cook County and extending to areas further south.

Funnel clouds rarely touch the ground and typically do not pose a hazard, Butler said.

Some were spotted earlier Friday near Ottawa.

There are ground stops at both Midway and O’Hare airports Friday afternoon due to thunderstorms.

Midway has delays of nearly an hour.

Video from 58th Street and Harlem Avenue nearby showed a man trying to walk in deep water.

On inbound Interstate 55 near First Avenue, there is also high water.

And some viaducts in the city are flooding. One appeared flooded at Drake Avenue, off of 47th Street and Archer Avenue.

There has been severe weather throughout the week.

Trees and power lines were knocked down Thursday by strong winds.
