Chicago Thanksgiving Parade 2025 to march down State Street in Loop

Chicago’s streets will once again come alive with festive spirit as the beloved annual Thanksgiving Parade returns to the Loop. This cherished event, a staple in the city’s holiday calendar, promises a delightful spectacle for both residents and visitors.

The parade will kick off at 8:45 a.m., commencing its journey along the iconic State Street. It will begin at Ida B Wells and make its way to Randolph, offering an exciting route for the anticipated crowd.

Each year, the parade draws in hundreds of thousands of spectators who gather downtown, eager to witness and partake in the celebrations. The event is a vibrant showcase of the city’s cultural diversity and artistic talent.

Attendees can look forward to an array of performances, including marching bands, dancers, musicians, and cultural showcases. Celebrity guests will also make appearances, adding an extra layer of excitement to the occasion.

Since its inception in 1934, the Chicago Thanksgiving Parade has evolved into one of America’s most treasured holiday events, bringing together performers and traditions from all corners of the city, the nation, and even the globe. It’s a celebration that truly captures the heart and soul of Chicago.

Chicago police will be monitoring events throughout the city Thursday.

Mayor Brandon Johnson says he wants families to get out and enjoy the holidays, despite recent incidents in the Loop.

“We’re not going to allow some irresponsible individuals to dictate and determine how we throw down as a city,” Mayor Johnson said. “It’s the holiday season. I want people to get out and spend some time with their families.”
