Seventh Cincinnati assault suspect arrested over violent beatdown

Cincinnati Police Union Criticizes 'Political Games' Amid Calls for Prosecution in Viral Assault Case Involving White Man

The Cincinnati police union is responding strongly as local leaders demand the prosecution of several White individuals implicated in a viral downtown attack that resulted in injuries to six people in late July.

The city’s Fraternal Order of Police issued a statement in defense of the department’s investigative efforts concerning the violent incident, while criticizing city leaders for insisting on further arrests.

Ken Kober, president of Queen City Lodge #69, expressed in a statement to Fox News Digital, “Cincinnati Police investigators have been diligent in collecting all facts, collaborating with prosecutors, and levying appropriate charges to ensure that those involved are held accountable. Political efforts to sway the investigation’s outcome for personal gain are inappropriate. Law enforcement should remain free from political manipulation.”

This potentially volatile situation led Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Tyrone Yates to ask for extra security during Wright’s arraignment, as reported by WKRC 12.

Judge Yates stated, “Can we have a couple of deputies outside to ensure everyone remains calm during this hearing?”

Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Kearney also reportedly weighed in on the criticism.

According to WKRC 12, Kearney claimed, “The actions of the White individuals involved seem to be the direct cause of the violence, and they should be charged. Our focus should be on justice and not turning against one another.”

Kearney did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
