Conner Smith was involved in the deadly incident a day after performing at CMA Fest in Nashville.

WASHINGTON — Country artist Conner Smith has called off two upcoming performances after being involved in a deadly accident during the CMA Fest weekend earlier this month in Nashville.

According to police, Smith allegedly struck 77-year-old pedestrian Dorothy Dobbins while driving his Chevy Silverado pickup truck on Sunday, June 8.

According to a police report, the crash appeared to have resulted from Smith not yielding to the woman, who had the right of way and was crossing legally. Authorities noted that Smith exhibited no signs of impairment, and no charges have been pressed as the investigation is ongoing.

Smith was set to headline the Military Appreciation Concert on Friday, June 20, as part of the Kaulig Companies Championship. However, tournament officials informed WKYC on Monday that he has withdrawn from the event.

“As Conner Smith takes time to privately process recent events, he will unfortunately not be performing in Akron on June 20. We appreciate your understanding and continued support during this difficult time,” said William Morris Endeavor (WME) in a statement released to the tournament.

Smith was also scheduled to perform the next day at Buckeye Country Superfest, but a social media post from the event said he “will unfortunately not be performing this weekend.”

According to his tour calendar, Smith’s next shows are scheduled for July 18 and 19 in Missouri.

The woman who died in the Nashville incident was a leader in the city’s legal aid and family law communities, where she practiced for over 40 years, according to posts by the Bar Association and the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands. Dobbins played a “foundational role in opening Nashville’s first domestic violence shelter,” according to a Facebook post from the Legal Aid Society, and she wrote the state’s first order of protection legislation.

WKYC and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
